Your Role as an IDEA Parent

At IDEA, parents are at the heart of everything we do. We honor your role as your child’s primary teacher because most of us are homeschooling parents too. Here’s what your partnership with IDEA looks like:

✨ You Direct Your Child’s Learning

You decide what, how, and where your child learns. Whether that means using a boxed curriculum, online classes, hands-on projects, or a mix of everything—IDEA gives you the freedom to build an education that fits your family.

🤝 We Keep You Supported and Connected

Each family works with a Certified Contact Teacher who walks alongside you, offers expert insights, answers questions, and helps you manage paperwork and deadlines. You’ll check in once a month (a quick chat, call, or email) to share how things are going and get help if you need it.

📧 You Stay in Touch and Up to Date

IDEA communicates primarily through email, text messages (if you want them), and your region's page on our website. Parents are encouraged to check in regularly to stay informed about updates, deadlines, and local activities.

📝 We Offer Assessments—You Choose What’s Right

IDEA offers the statewide assessments required by Alaska, but participation is always up to you. We’ll give you the information and tools to decide what’s best for your child and to prepare them if you choose to participate.

📓 You Share Progress

A few times each year, you’ll submit short progress updates and samples of your child’s work. This helps us celebrate their growth, maintain records, and ensure the program continues to meet state requirements.

🌟 Together, We Make It Brilliant

IDEA is a partnership—parents bring passion and commitment, and we bring structure, support, and resources. Together, we make homeschooling both flexible and successful.
