How IDEA Works
Homeschooling doesn’t have to mean you do everything by yourself—though you can if you want to. With IDEA, parents stay in the driver’s seat while we provide the resources, guidance, and community to make the journey smoother.
Your Role
You know your child best, so you get to choose the curriculum that best fits your child's learning style and individual needs. You'll set schedules, learning pace, and daily routines that work for your child and your family.
IDEA's Role
In addition to a monetary allotment, we give you access to certified teachers, a wide range of curriculum options, access to an active community of other IDEA families, support with paperwork and compliance, and countless other resources to help you and your child succeed.
Homeschool Allotment
IDEA provides a yearly allotment of $2,700 per K–12 student to help cover the costs of educating your child at home.
The IDEA(L) Balance
IDEA is the best of both worlds: You get to keep your independence as a homeschool family, but you're backed by the support of Alaska’s favorite correspondence school. Some parents want more independence, while others want more support. With IDEA, you can have it either way. As many of our homeschooling families like to say, IDEA is here when you need us, hands off if you don't.
