Allotment
When you homeschool in Alaska with IDEA, you'll get funding to help cover your educational expenses. This is known as the Alaska Homeschool Allotment, and it gives you the flexibility to personalize your child's education.
How Much Is the IDEA Allotment?
-
$2,700 per K–12 student per school year
-
Plus: IDEA covers the cost of many enrichment activities, workshops, and teacher-led events. (Most are free to families—only vendor-required admission fees apply.)
Preschool Option:
If you enroll older children with IDEA, you can also enroll their sibling if they're four years old by Sept 1. While we don’t receive state funding for preschoolers, IDEA provides a courtesy allotment of $300 per enrolled preschooler to support early learning.

Flexibility with Guidance
When it comes to choosing your child's curriculum, you make the decisions. We just provide the guardrails. Our teachers and staff will help you navigate state guidelines with confidence and ease so you can make the most of your allotment.
You can either purchase from hundreds of pre-approved vendors who can bill IDEA directly, or pay out of pocket and submit your receipts to IDEA for reimbursement.
And remember—although IDEA's allotment may not be the largest in the state, our families can tell you that their allotment actually goes farther with IDEA because we allow more flexibility on how you can use your allotment.
